I finally figured out how to work this site (after 2 years of posting) so I'm in the process of moving my stories to actual literature. If anyone follows my stuff of just watches them from time to time that's where they're going for now on. I may clear out my journal for some backup space if I fill up the max posting limit but I don't know just yet. Thanks for the supporters I have and stay awesome!

Last time, Kelsie and Viola were finally able to get their Gym Battle started. Heading off to a rocky start, Viola’s Surskit was able to engulf the entire battlefield in slippery ice and sticky webs, allowing Surskit to out speed Kelsie’s Tysbone with ease. But with a lot of firepower and determination, Tysbone was still able to pull off the wind. However when Viola revealed her star Pokemon, Vivillon, it was able to use its agility and paperweight wings to elegantly outsmart Kelsie’s Noibat, putting the Gym Leader and challenger at a tie. As Tysbone comes in for a round 2, will he be able to pull off a victory after its battle with Surskit.

Viola said “You’re doing far better than I expected, Kelsie,” Viola applauded. “However, as I stated before, Tysbone is really your only experienced Pokemon. You really should spend some time training before challenging a gym, you know.” “Perhaps,” Kelsie agreed, “But I didn’t, so let’s live in the present.” He looked at Tysbone. “Ready to finish this?” Tysbone leaped onto the field, spouting out flames from its head.

Viola told Vivillon “One down, one to go!” Vivillon got ready for another round of battle. “The match between Vivillon and Quilava will now begin!”

Viola started by saying “Let’s start things off with a gust attack!” Vivillon made its wings glow in an illuminating blue light as it fluttered its wings forwards. Tysbone couldn’t keep its traction to the ground because of the slippery ice and it began to fly back. However, to avoid getting caught in the sticky web, Kelsie ordered “Tysbone, gain traction with the ground by using flame wheel. Then charge right into Vivillon!” Tysbone back flipped in the air and cloaked itself in a flaming wheel of fire. Tysbone began to sharply swerve around the battlefield so Vivillon couldn’t get a clear picture on where he was.

Shae said “Isn’t Vivillon just a floating target? Tysbone can strike her from any angle and with a quick move like flame wheel, I don’t think Viola stands a chance.” Ace replied “She beat a dragon flying type with that thing. I wouldn’t underestimate her if I were you.”

Viola responded by saying “Gust, once more!” Vivillon began to flap its wings even harder, making it hard for Tysbone to remain curled in its ball. “Now Sleep Powder!” Vivillon began to emit a green, sparkly mist into the wind as it headed straight for Tysbone. The mist surrounded him on all sides, sending him fast asleep. His flames from his head and tail dispersed as he fell into a deep slumber on the iced battlefield.

Kelsie yelled “Tysbone, you gotta wake up now!” Unaware of Kelsie’s commands, Tysbone continued to sleep on the floor. William said “I fear the end is drawing near.” Aquillis looked worried for Kelsie. Shae said “The battle isn’t over yet! He can still win this!” Aquillis perked up and started yelling at Tysbone. Shae told Kelsie “Come on, Kels! I know you can do this!”

Viola smiled. “Feels good to have support, doesn’t it Kelsie? I would give you room to think here, but I don’t think that would be fair to give such advantages to an advanced trainer like yourself.” She told Vivillon “Vivillon, Powder!” Vivillon spread its wings out far and wide, spreading large flakey insect scales all over the battlefield from its wings. Kelsie waited for something to happen, but nothing. Kelsie responded “Um….nothing happened.” “My mistake,” She said. She put her left hand on her hip. “Let’s finish this now.” She flung out her right hand and ordered “Vivillon, Solarbeam!”

Eugene observed “I know solarbeam is a grass move and all, but Tysbone is going to be down for the count if it can’t wake up!”

Kelsie ordered “TYSBONE! WAKE UP NOW AND USE FLAMETHROWER!” Kelsie’s scream woke Tysbone straight up. Shae and Aquillis cheered. “He did it! They woke up!” Tysbone began to build flames in its mouth and flared out the fire on its head and tail. Once the time was right, Tysbone released the flames at Vivillon. Vivillon unleashed its solarbeam at Tysbone as well. However, the powder from Vivillon’s wings began to react to the fire and explode all around Tysbone, causing him to fall back and take the direct hit from the solarbeam. The blast send Tysbone flying in the air along with the tiny explosions from the powder. “TYSBONE!” Kelsie cried.

Shae asked “But….I don’t get it….what just happened?” Viola explained “That, Shae my dear, was the power of the powder. Vivillon learns a signature move called powder that allows it to release a powder that explodes once exposed to fire.” “Brilliant,” William praised. “I’m sure Viola gets a lot of opponents who try to use fire types on her. So she taught her Vivillon powder so that those attacks would be completely useless.”

The referee was about to call the match, but Tysbone got back up. Its body began to emit an intense heat wave and its stomach began to glow orange. Kelsie knew what this meant and quickly yelled “Tysbone, no! You can’t let blaze activate! The flames you’ll emit will cause more of the powder on the field to explode, ruining any chances we have of winning!” Tysbone tried to contain its burning fire that was trying so hard to come out.

Ace said “Woah, which must be tough. Blaze is supposed to help Tysbone out in battle, not hinder it. Talk about a hard-core gym leader…” Big Shot even seemed amazed by her tactics.

“Impressive,” Viola admitted. “Your Tysbone has to be well trained if it’s able to control its blaze ability like that. But all that fire has to come out sometime, no matter how well trained it is! Vivillon, powder once more!” Vivillon unleashed more powder, aiming straight for Tysbone. Kelsie ordered “Tysbone, get out of there!” Running through the tracks he burned earlier from his flame wheel, he was able to run fast enough to escape Vivillon. Viola was far from through with him though.

“Gust!” She ordered. “Hidden Power!” Kelsie countered. The two blast cancelled each other out, but Tysbone was on the verge of collapsing. He was trying so hard to keep the burning fire within him tamed, as well as avoid the incoming attacks from Vivillon. Kelsie didn’t want to admit it, but he was stumped. He didn’t see a way out. His confident smirk on his face began to slowly fade away as he saw Tysbone get weaker and weaker. Shae could tell this and so she spoke out to Kelsie.

“Kelsie, I know you’re not about to give up! I believe in you! I believe in Tysbone! Come on you two! You can do this!”

Coming from his crush, those words alone were enough to keep him fueled. But Tysbone was a fire type. How could he win if he couldn’t even use half of his moveset? “She’s right,” Viola answered. “I would be disappointed to see you and Tysbone throw away this match. Fighting alongside you at the Team Flare base, I could see you had something special in you by the way you can Tysbone responded to each other. Just as that bond between you two was able to stop Team Flare, it also has the potential to earn you a badge here and now. Now come on, fight to the end!”

Kelsie’s confident smile came back. “You guys are right! We CAN do this! Tysbone, the end is near! Vivillon is getting just as weak as you are. Let’s end this now!” “I couldn’t agree more,” Viola answered. “

“Vivillon, one more gust attack.” Vivillon began to shoot a violent gust of wind at Tysbone as the powders began to follow in the wind. “Run away from it, Tysbone!” Tysbone used his remaining strength to run away from the wind, jumping from each column of ice to another he had created from his flame wheel. Viola said “You’re running out of places to run, Kelsie. I suggest you think of a new tactic fast, before Tysbone is completely run dry.”

Kelsie agreed “You know what, Viola? You’re right. We can’t run forever. Tysbone, stop!” Tysbone stopped running, huffing and puffing showing just how tired he was. His body began glowing orange again and emitting even more intense wave of fire. Tysbone tried to contain it, but Kelsie ordered “No Tysbone, let it come. Don’t hold in blaze any longer.”

Shae yelled “Kelsie no! With all that fire stored in Tysbone, the powder’s going to explode all over Tysbone!” Viola chuckled. “And there goes your downfall. You put up a good fight you two, but it all ends here. Vivillon, Solarbeam!” Vivillon unleashed a massive solarbeam straight at Tysbone. Kelsie said “Flamethrower, now!” Tysbone unleashed a massively sized flamethrower at Vivillon, which cancelled out the solarbeam. No powders exploded on Tysbone. Viola looked shocked. “Huh? But how?!” “Not a single powder got on Tysbone that time!” Eugene noticed.

Kelsie explained “You see Viola, while you were expecting Tysbone to unleash some fire from its body and kept shooting powders at us, we intestinally used the gust created by Vivillon to sweep up all the powder into the rows and columns created by Tysbone’s flame wheel. Take a look.” She noticed all of the powder created by Vivillon was all in the craters. She gasped. “How clumsy of me not to even notice that…” Vivillon looked even more exhausted than Tysbone now, as it just took some of the impact of a powder-boosted flamethrower. Now that Tysbone was no longer suppressing its blaze ability, it had just enough energy to finish the battle.

Kelsie ordered “Alright Tysbone one more time! Flamethrower, max power!” Tysbone shot out another flamethrower, as the powders began to explode from within it making the flamethrower even more powerful. There was no way possible for Vivillon to charge a solarbeam in enough time to counter that, so it was hit directly on by the intensely powerful flamethrower. “Vivillon, no!!!!” Viola cried. Spiraling straight out of the sky, Vivillon hit the icy cold battlefield on its back, knocked unconscious and unable to battle.

“Vivillon is unable to battle,” Sycamore announced, “Which means the Victor goes to Kelsie and Tysbone!”

Kelsie and Tysbone jumped up and down. “We did it, bud! I knew you could do it!” Tysbone crawled over to Kelsie and gave him a big hug. He began to lick Kelsie’s face. He laughed. “Awesome battling out there. That’s the Jhoto way.”

Viola picked up her Vivillon who sounded disappointed they lost. “It’s not your fault Vivillon,” Viola reassured. “You were great. I want you to know I’m proud of you and I wouldn’t change anything about that battle.” Vivillon smiled at Viola as Viola returned Vivillon back to its Pokeball.

Viola began to approach Kelsie. “Well Kelsie, I have to admit, that was sharp thinking. Using our powder against us was the first time anyone tried something as slick as that.” “Thanks,” He said. She began to reach in her pocket. “As proof of your victory over the Santalune City gym, I award you the bug badge.”

In the palm of her hand was a bronze badge. It was in the shape of a lady bug with a single green gems on each of the wings. The eyes of the ladybug were on the side of the head and the antennas were connected at the top, making an oval shape.

Kelsie grabbed it and said “Wow, thanks Viola. This means a lot.” Tysbone said his name proud. Kelsie said “Look at it Tysbone, our first Kalos league badge.” He chuckled with excitement and let out a louder cheer of happiness. “Alright! We just got a bug badge!” Tysbone erupted small cinders of fire from its head as it celebrated with him.

Ace began clapping. “Bravo Kelsie, bravo.” He had a tone in his voice that Cleary said “Good job Kelsie, but I could do it better.” He wrapped his arm around Viola’s neck. “If you thought that was a tough battle, I’ll give you one with TWICE the intensity!” Big Shot said its name agreeing. Viola slowly got his arm off of her and responded “I haven’t forgotten my promise to you all. I will fight each and every last one of you as soon as I heal my Pokemon.”

Shae ran to Kelsie and gave him a hug. “I knew you two could do it! I just knew it! Congrats to you both! Aquillis and I learned so much just from watching!” Kelsie was speechless. Sure it was just a hug, but it just felt so magical to him. “Umm…t….thanks….”

Viola interrupted and asked “So Kelsie, it looks like I owe you an apology. You’re obviously strong enough to take on Clemont. When you head over there, give Clemont my best regards.” Kelsie responded “No,” Kelsie answered “I owe you an apology. I should have took your advice. Noibat wasn’t strong enough to take out even one of your Pokemon and Tysbone barely got the job done. Being you’re only the first gym leader in the Kalos region, I think I’ll train a little bit more before I take on Clemont.”

Viola had a satisfied look on her face. “I see you’re still learning,” She answered. “That’s good. Best of luck to you as you train. I’ll catch up with you later, alright?” “Gotcha,” Kelsie said. With that, he began to head into the city.

Shae however began to follow him. “Kelsie, wait! I want to come with you!” Kelsie asked “But don’t you want to fight Viola?” “No, I’m alright,” She answered. “I can always come back and fight her, right? Besides, I want to explore the city. I hear it’s the biggest in all of Kalos!” “Indeed it is,” Professor Sycamore said. “You two should do a little bit of sightseeing while you’re here. Go ahead, have fun!” “Thanks!” They both said. Kelsie and Shae departed from the lab, heading straight into the city while the rest of the trainers stayed behind to fight the Gym Leader Viola.

Now that the Team Flare incident was finally over, Kelsie and Viola can finally have their Gym Battle, as Kelsie becomes one step closer to becoming a Pokemon Champion. But his first step will be to defeat his friend Viola, who has proven herself a worthy opponent with her battle knowledge and tactics seen in fighting Team Flare.

As Kelsie, Viola and Shae were walking to the Lab, Viola said to Kelsie “Are your Pokemon all healed up? Do you know who you’re going to battle with?” Kelsie nodded his head yes. “I’m only going to use the Pokemon I have I’ve captured here in Kalos.” She concluded “So you know that limits you to Quilava, Noibat and Froakie, all who you’ve only recently received.” “Yeah,” Kelsie admitted, “But we’ve had a few battles along the way. I think they should be strong enough to take you down.” She answered “You better choose wisely then, because at my gym, only 2 Pokemon are permitted.”

Shae asked Viola “Viola, the only Pokemon I’ve seen you use is Scyther. What other Pokemon do you have with you?” She winked and answered “You’ll have to see in battle! But here’s a little hint: I’m the Bug Type Gym Leader.” Kelsie began to think about that. “Bug Type huh….”

Once Kelsie, Shae and Viola arrived, the rest of the gang was waiting too. Ace and Big Shot seemed to be doing some last minute training, until they spotted Viola. “About time you three showed up!” He exclaimed. He walked up to Kelsie. “Kels, don’t disappoint me. You better win this one, got it?” Ace made a confident wink and patted Kelsie on the shoulder. Big Shot seemed to give him a thumbs up. “Thanks Ace,” Kelsie replied. “I’ll be sure to give it my all.” Shae said “We’ll be rooting for you as well!” Aquillis began to jump up and down. “I appreciate the support. All of you.” Viola asked “So Kelsie, ready to begin?” Kelsie and Tysbone nodded. “You bet!”

Professor Sycamore took them back to his garden for another fight. He reassured “Alright everyone, you will all get your battle with Viola as soon as Kelsie and Ace have theirs first.” William answered “Fine by me. I enjoy observing other’s battle strategies.” Honchkrow nodded in agreement. Eugene said “Me too! It’s a great way to observe how the bonds between people and their Pokemon reveal themselves in battle!”

Kelsie and Viola got on their sides of the battle field. “The battle between Kelsie and Viola is now underway,” Professor Sycamore said. “Each Trainer will use 2 Pokemon each. When either side is out of usable Pokemon, the victor will be decided. Begin!”

Kelsie asked “So who’s up first, Viola? Scyther?” “I’m not so predictable,” She reassured. “Scyther isn’t my only partner, you know.” She pulled out a red and white Pokeball and threw it sideways. “Surskit, I choose you!” Out of white glittering light, a water skater bug came out. It had a blue round body with a yellow top of its head and long, yellow antenna. It had 4 skinny blue legs that came out like any typical 4 legged bug.

Kelsie scanned it with his Pokedex. “Wow, it’s a Surskit.” He said. The Pokedex read “Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokemon. It appears as if it is skating on water. It secretes a thick, sweet-scented syrup from the tip of its head. From the tips of its feet, Surskit secretes an oil that enables it to walk on water as if it were skating. It lives on weed-choked ponds.”

“Seems pretty slick,” Kelsie said. He looked at Tysbone and said “You’re up first bud.” Tysbone rolled on the battlefield, sprouting out in flames that began to blaze from his head and tail. The Professor announced “Alright you two, let the battle begin!”

Kelsie said “Alright Tysbone, let’s start this right. Use Flamethrower!” Tysbone began to build flames in its mouth and fired it at Viola’s Surskit. “Protect!” She ordered. A dome of blue energy enclosed Surskit, repelling all the flames Tysbone shot at her. “Good,” she commended, “Now Sticky Web!” “Um…..what.” Kelsie said blankly. “Whatever the heck that is, counter it with another flamethrower!” “Surskit, skate around the field to successfully set up sticky web!” Surskit agilely glided out of the way of the flames, appearing as if it was skating on a pair or roller blades around the field. Surskit began to fire webs of sticky bug syrup from its antenna, but Tysbone was too fast and was able to move out of the way.”

“That thing is pretty light on its feet,” Ace commended, “I give it its props.” Shae asked “You think Tysbone can still pull it out alright? Surskit is still a bug type, so he has the advantage.” Eugene butted in saying “Don’t forget, Surskit is also part water. That makes this a pretty fair fight, so the winner is truly going to go to the better trainer.” “Wow,” Shae said, “What a balanced team…”

“Now Surskit, Ice Beam?” Kelsie chuckled. “No water moves?” He mocked. “I thought a Gym Leader would know ice moves do absolutely nothing to fire types.” She countered “And I thought an experienced trainer would know that moves carry secondary effects.” “What are you planning?” Kelsie asked.

Surskit twirled off the ground straight into the sky. It began to point its antenna downward, shooting out a freezing cold ray of ice. Kelsie ordered “Flame Wheel to dodge, then hit it right out the sky!” Tysbone back flipped in the air and cloaked itself in fire, rolling around the field to dodge the ice beans. However, Viola persistently ordered “Keep those Ice Beams rolling!” Surskit landed in one of the trees, leaping from tree to tree trying to hit Tysbone with an Ice Beam. However, Tysbone continued to roll out the way. The field however began to slowly become covered in ice. This didn’t bother Tysbone, however, being he was literally a flaming wheel of fire at this point.

The ice began to build up, however. As Tysbone began to keep rolling, he created craters from the path he was traveling in, making the field uneven and forcing him out of his curl. “Good!” Viola said. “Now Signal Beam!” A purple vortex of light began to swirl around Surskit antenna and fired it at Tysbone. “Extrasensory!” Tysbone’s eyes began to glow in blue energy, freezing the beam in mid-air. He began to use his psychic powers to reverse the beam back at Surskit, knocking it out of the tree it was resting in. “Get up, Surskit!” She said adamantly. Surskit got back up, ready to keep battling. “Keep up the pressure!” Kelsie told Tysbone confidently. He followed by commanding “Now, Hidden Power!” Tysbone responded by building white glowing energy around its body, which formed into white balls of energy. They dispersed in all directing, honing in on Surskit.

Viola ordered “Counter it with another Sticky Web!” Surskit fired more webs from its antenna, gliding on the ice to skillfully dodge the falling balls of light. A few of them landed on Tysbone’s feet, pinning him in place. Tysbone struggled to break loose, but it was no use. Viola smirked. “Gotcha.”

She immediately jumped on this opportunity. “Surskit, Signal Beam, now!” Surskit fired another purple beam from its antenna, hitting Tysbone head on. Kelsie kept his cool however and confidently said “It’s all good. Tysbone, Flame Wheel at Surskit!” Tysbone began to use his flames from his tail to incinerate the webs holding it down. It curled into a flaming ball once more, charging in rapidly at Surskit. “Slip and slide!” Viola confidently ordered. Gliding right over the ice, Surskit moved twice as fast, maneuvering around the tracks Tysbone left from his Flame Wheel. Tysbone somewhat stumble over the tracks he was leaving in the ice, but he was able to still remain in his ball this time.

Kelsie said “An icy field isn’t going to stop us! Tysbone, attack!” Viola grinned. “Perfect.” She said softly. Talking loud enough for Surskit to hear, she ordered “Now Surskit, stand and deliver! Hydro Pump!” Surskit made a sharp turn and stood in place. It began creating large droplets of water with its antenna, they quickly formed together to unleash a gushing, streaming force of water right in Tysbone’s face, sending him flying to the ground. Being thrown off by the intense amount of water blasted at him, he fell straight on the ice, spiraling out of control heading straight for one of the webs created by Surskit. “Tysbone!” Kelsie cried. It was too late. Tysbone was pinned to a tree where one of the webs found a place to rest. He was unable to move.

Eugene’s eyes lit up. “Amazing! Viola was able to turn this whole match around with one powerful move!” Ace added, “Surskit may not be a very strong Pokemon, but Hydro Pump is a very strong move. I guess it all balances out. Not to mention Tysbone is a fire type. I expected Kels to play his cards better than that.” Shae yelled “Come on Kelsie, you can do it!”

Viola formed her hands like a picture frame as she looked through it. “Ah, now this would make a wonderful photo. The downfall of little Tysbone. Surskit, Hydro Pump!” Surskit began to form another intense force of water with its antenna and began to fire it. Kelsie said “Tysbone, flamethrower!” Tysbone tried to send out more flames, but instead, he was shooting out balls of fire. Surskit was able to dodge them with ease as it glided over the ice, leaving a trail of sparkling ice as it glided.

“Now Surskit,” She said, “Circle that tree! Make sure he can’t escape!” Surskit began to circle the tree not making a single attack. It just made sure Tysbone couldn’t escape. Tysbone’s left eye began to start twitching. Its face turned bitter and agitated. Without Kelsie’s command, Tysbone began recklessly firing fireballs from its mouth, trying to hit Surskit at least once. “Tysbone, calm down!” Since the blast were uncontrolled and unordered, Surskit was able to dodge them without any commands from Viola. Shae said “Tysbone’s gone mad!” William commented “Well, this battle does give me a bit of a headache. And I’m just watching it….” Honchkrow said its name in agreement.

Viola giggled with three fingers over her lips. “It looks like Tysbone’s starting to get a bit agitated by my Surskit.” Kelsie said “And that’s my sign to end this quickly. Tysbone, Flamethrower once more!” Tysbone roared in anger. It stomped its foot straight on the ground to get a firm grip. Its tail flared out to twice the size of its body. Its flame on its head burned violently as it unleashed a massive, widespread explosion of fire from its mouth. “Is that blaze?” Shae asked. “He hasn’t been hit enough for blaze to activate,” Ace answered. “I just he’s just super annoyed and wants to finish this now.”

“What an eruption of power!” Viola said stunned. “Surskit, Hydro Pump!” The two attacks collided, making a huge cloud of steam. Surskit could be seen flying as a result of the blast. Coming right out the steam, a humongous ball of fire slammed down on Surskit. The ball dispersed into harmess embers, revealing Tysbone at the center. Professor Sycamore was speechless for a second. Then, he cleared his throat. “Well um…. I think its clear Surskit is unable to battle after that. Tysbone is declared the winner of this round.” “You did it, Tysbone!” Tysbone blew some fire out of its nose, still slightly annoyed from the fight.

Viola pulled out Surskit Pokeball and retuned it in a flash of red light. “Well, I have to say, Tysbone definitely is a unique battle. The ability to use its emotions to motivate it in battle is an effective tactic.” Kelsie said “He’s been like that even since he was a little Cyndaquil. But hey, it’s helped us along the way.”

Viola pulled out her next Pokeball. She threw it horizontally and said “Well now it’s time you meet MY starter!” In a dazzling explosion of white light, a pink butterfly came out. The tip of its wings were black all around with a lighter pink design on the inside of the wings. It had dark pink spots a little deeper into the wings and blue spots on the inner most parts of the wings. Its eyes seem to be pretty insect like: all black with 3 white pupils. It had 2 antennas sticking out of its head and 2 feet at the bottom of its gray body.

Kelsie pulled out his Pokedex. “What’s that thing?” His Pokedex did a complete scan of the butterfly creature. It read “Vivillon, the Scale Pokemon. Vivillon with many different patterns are found all over the world, scattered in various colorful scales. These patterns are affected by the climate of their habitat.”

Kelsie told Tysbone “Hey Tysbone, why don’t you take a break?” Tysbone adamantly said its name and flared out the fire on its head and tail. “Looks like Tysbone’s all fired up for a round 2,” Shae observed. However, Kelsie rejected “Tysbone, I know that last battle got you all fired up, but I have no idea what this thing can do. I can’t afford to lose you just yet, so let’s scout out how strong this thing is. I promise you’ll get some more battle time.” Tysbone didn’t look too excited about the idea, but Tysbone returned to Kelsie’s side.

“Smart move,” Ace admitted. “If Kelsie lost Tysbone to this thing, he would lose his most valuable Pokemon pretty early on. And I’m pretty sure h can’t take that many more hits after taking several Hydro Pumps to the face.”

Kelsie pulled out his Great Ball. “Alright Noibat, I choose you!” Kelsie’s Noibat came out, ready for action. The Professor announced “The battle between Vivillon and Noibat will now begin!”

Kelse pointed forward. “Okay Noibat, use Wing Attack!” Noibat made its wings begin to shine in white light as it cloaked its wings in harsh winds. It began to charge straight at Vivillon. “Dodge!” Viola ordered. Vivillon elegantly drifted upward, flying straight out of Vivillon’s way. However, Noibat didn’t stop there. He quickly swerved around, heading right back at Vivillon, slicing it right on the side of its wing. Vivillon began to lose stability in the air.

“Great job!” Kelsie praised. Tysbone cheered as well. “Keep up the good work! Let’s follow up with an Air Cutter!” Noibat began to bat its wings forward rapidly, creating blue energy razors composed of wind heading straight for Vivillon. “Use the breeze Noibat’s making to navigate around the Air Cutters,” Viola said, “Then hit it with a gust!” Vivillon followed Viola’s orders. Sure enough, the elegant butterfly was able to lightly drift out of the way of the incoming blades of air and land straight behind Noibat, hitting it from behind with a powerful gust of wind.

Kelsie noticed where Vivillon was aiming. It was trying to knock Noibat straight into one of the sticky webs. “Noibat,” He quickly said “You have to get out that breeze!” It was too late, though. He was strapped down to the stadium wall, pinned completely vulnerable to Vivillon’s attacks. Viola said “Got to be more careful, Kelsie. Vivillon, Gust again!” Vivillon made its wings glow in white, glistening energy. Before it was able to launch, Kelsie said “That’s it! Noibat, Supersonic!” Noibat began to erupt a massive sound wave from its ears that stopped Vivillon right in its tracks. “Now Screech!” Noibat increased the frequency drastically, creating a sharp, irritating sound that not only irritated Vivillon, but began to make the web rapidly shake, allowing Noibat to break free.

“Impressive,” Viola admitted. “Using Noibat’s ability to create such violent sound waves to your advantage. I like how you’re thinking.”  “Thanks,” Kelsie said. “Now Noibat, Wing Attack!” Noibat once again cloaked its wings in harsh wings as they glowed in white energy and quickly rushed to Vivillon. Vivillon used its wings to try to reduce the damage from Noibat’s wings, but the irritating sound reduced the amount of hits it could take. Finally, Noibat uppercut Vivillon with one of its wings, sending Vivillon flying. “Dead on!” Kelsie cheered. Tysbone jumped up and down, saying its name happy that Kelsie was doing so well.

“Let’s finish this battle now,” Kelsie said. “One more Wing Attack!” Noibat charged in for one more wing attack. “What is Viola doing?” Shae asked. “Isn’t this her star Pokemon?” Aquillis said its name confused as well. “Things may look bad for her,” William said, “But she is a gym leader. I wouldn’t say she’s down just yet.”

Vivillon looked like it was ready to fight back. “Not yet,” Viola said. “Wait.” Noibat began to hone in closer and closer. Right before it was too late, she ordered “Sleep Powder!” With no time to spare, Vivillon spread its wings apart far and wide, emitting a green smoke right at Noibat. There was no time for Kelsie to do anything. Noibat’s wings were no longer cloaked in white light or harsh winds. It was just spiraling out of the sky straight to the ground. Kelsie yelled “Noibat, fight it! Tuck your wings in to escape the power!”

Noibat struggled with all of its might to even tuck its wings in. Sure enough, Noibat began to fall even faster, leaving the Sleep Powder behind it. At the very last second, Noibat swooped back into the sky, skinning the icy battlefield below with its clawed feet. Vivillon shot down right behind Noibat, trying to keep up with it. They zigzagged around the stadium a few times, as Vivillon continued to try and hit Noibat with more powder of sleep. However, Noibat kept flying faster and faster, not allowing it to catch up. Kelsie said “Alright, flying in circles isn’t going to get us anywhere. Noibat, turn around and use Air Cutter!” Noibat swerved around in the sky and began batting its wings forward. Blue Razors of wind once again came honing in on Vivillon. Viola ordered “Send them right back at Noibat with gust, full power!”

Vivillon began to send an even stronger gust back at Noibat, using its Air Cutter combined with Vivillon’s gust to knock it straight back, sending it into another web. Kelsie caught onto this earlier this time, though, so he said “Noibat, ride the wind to keep flying! If you get back in that web, it’s over!” Noibat stopped trying to fly and simply spread out its wings. It began to blow with the wind, using its wings only to navigate. It seemed like Noibat was enjoying this, as it was squeaking happily and preforming backflips in the air with its eyes closed, smiling with its mouth wide open.

“It seems like Noibat is having fun in this battle,” Kelsie noticed. “A little too much fun.” Viola said. “Vivillon, Sleep Powder into the gust!” Vivillon batted its wings forward, sending the green powder into the gust. Noibat was hit on all sides, starting to shut down. “No, Noibat!” Kelsie cried. “Don’t go down! Screech, now!” Noibat tried to emit a burst of sound from its ear, but it was just too tired as it began to spiral straight for the ground. Before it even hit the ground, Noibat was knocked out sleep. “No way….” Kelsie said.

Viola took a picture with her camera. “The turning point of a battle,” She said. “Always a momentous sight.” She put her left hand on her hip, as she flung her right hand out. Wrapping up, she said “Alright Vivillon, let’s end this. Solar Beam!” Vivillon began to gather sunlight around its wings as it began to form into little green balls. The balls clustered together into a massive beam of green light, blasting Noibat right out the sky. “Noibat!!!” Kelsie yelled. Tysbone yelled its name as well. However, there was nothing they could do. The impact of the fall combined with the impact from the blast was enough to knock out Noibat, as it laid on the icy battlefield unaware of its own defeat.

“Noibat is unable to battle,” The Professor announced. “Vivillon is the winner!” Kelsie withdrew Noibat in a flash of red light. “Great battling out there, Noibat,” Kelsie said to the Great Ball. “You deserved this break.”

“So Kelsie,” Viola asked, “What do you think? I’m not half bad, huh?” “I give you your props,” Kelsie admitted, “But now it’s Tysbone’s turn!”

Although Tysbone clearly has the type advantage, Viola has proven that she knows what she’s doing when it comes to her weakness. Tysbone also has taken lots of battle damage from Surskit as well, giving Vivillon a bit more of an edge. Will Vivillon and Viola claim victory or will Tysbone be able to incinerate Viola and her web of trickery?

That night, Kelsie, Viola and Shae found a hotel to sleep in. As they were checking in, the man at the front desk asked “How may I help you today?” Viola replied “I’d like two rooms for the night, please.” “Certainly,” He responded. “Right this way.” As they got to their first room, Viola responded “Alright, you two can stay in this room. I’ll meet you guys at Sycamore’s lab around noon, alright?” “Got it,” Kelsie said. Viola winked and said “I look forward to our battle tomorrow, Kelsie.” He repsoned “Same here.” Tysbone said his name fired up.

As they began to settle in, Shae asked “Kelsie, how were you able to take down Ace’s Feraligatr with just Noibat?” Kelsie replied “You just have to wait for the right moment,” He answered. “In every battle, there will always be a window for you to make your strike. Sometimes it’ll open multiple times and others it’ll only be once in the entire fight. But when Ace used Hydro Cannon, that’s when I knew that I had to make that next turn count.” Shae responded “I would’ve probably used that turn trying to get some damage in.” Kelsie said “Well I know Ace, and it’s going to take a lot more than just attacks to take his Big Shot down.”

She began to climb in her bed. “Well, it was really impressive. Aquillis and I really enjoyed watching you fight today. Hopefully tomorrow, you’ll be able to get a badge from Viola.” Aquillis smiled at Kelsie, trying to give it moral support. “Thanks you two. We’ll do our best.” “Well, night Kelsie.” “Good Night.” They turned off the lights and went to sleep.

In the middle of the night, Tysbone woke up. He went to the balcony of the hotel and looked down. It apparently spotted something and ran off. Kelsie heard him before he actually left and woke up. “Tysbone,” He asked, “Where are you going?” Tysbone simply said its name worried and ran off. “Tysbone, come back.” He was trying not to be too loud so he wouldn’t wake up Shae. He ran after Tysbone.

Now that they were in the halls, Kelsie said louder “Tysbone! What’s gotten into you?!” Not showing any signs of slowing down, he continued to run out of the Hotel and into the streets. “Tysbone, be careful! You can’t just run into a busy street like that!” Still not even thinking about slowing down, Tysbone hurried to a dark alley. When Kelsie finally caught up to him, he saw Professor Sycamore talking to Lysandre. It looked like a pretty intense talk though, being Professor Sycamore had a Charizard to his side. “You’re alive?!” Sycamore asked. “But how?! The ultimate weapon should’ve destroyed you!” “I thought the same,” Lysandre answered. “However, just as the ultimate weapon granted AZ’s Floette eternal life….as have I.”

“Professor!” Kelsie and Tysbone ran up. Lysandre looked Kelsie’s way. “Oh look. It’s that kid from the Pokemon center. Say, isn’t it past your bedtime?” Sycamore told Kelsie in an adamant tone “Kelsie, leave this to me. I didn’t expect for you to have to deal with this guy on your journey. I won’t let him hurt anymore innocent lives!!” Sycamore ordered “Charizard, Flamethrower, now!” Charizard began to blow flames of his mouth right at Lysandre. However, a Golurk came from out of the ground and protected him. “I was only stopping by to say hello to an old friend,” Sycamore answered, “But I must be going now.”

Lysandre jumped on Golurk’s back and began to fly off until they were both out of sight. Kelsie asked “Professor, who was that?” He responded “That was Lysandre, the leader of Team Flare. I thought that he was defeated a while back but it seems that he has somehow returned…”He told Kelsie “This changes everything. With someone as dangerous as Lysandre on the loose, I don’t want to put innocent trainers’ lives on the line.” Kelsie re-assured “I can handle it! I’ve battle lots of organizations before! Team Rocket, Team Plasma, Team Aqua and Team Magma! I can handle all of them! Just leave it to me and Tysbone!”

Sycamore’s voice turned adamant. “Kelsie, I need your word. If you see Team Flare on the run, I need you to contact me as soon as possible or Officer Jenny. Is that clear?” “Alright,” Kelsie said. “Good. Now go back to bed. I’m sorry to awaken you over this nonsense.” And with that, Tysbone and Kelsie returned to their hotel room.

Kelsie quietly entered the room again. He peeked over to make sure he hadn’t awoken Shae. Sure enough she was still knocked out gently snoring through her half open mouth. Aquillis however was awake. She looked like she was about to wake up Shae, but Kelsie quickly said “Ssssshhhhh…….” Aquillis looked confused but ignored them. She tried to return to sleep. Kelsie whispered to Tysbone “We’ll explain what happened tonight in the morning. Professor Sycamore made a big deal about not messing with Team Flare, so we should honor his request.” Tysbone nodded its head in agreement.

The next morning, Kelsie was awoken with a slap from Shae. He almost yelled, but Shae covered his mouth before he could. She made a head gesture telling him to make his way toward the door. They quietly approached the door. She pointed at the peep hole, like she wanted him to look out of it. He did and saw Team Flare grunts everywhere. He whispered “Why are they here?” “They’re looking for us,” She said. “They want our Mega Rings.” Kelsie said “Then the others are in danger too!” Kelsie reached in his pocket and pulled out Noibat’s Pokeball. He threw it in the air to summon his Noibat. Noibat came out, squeaking and saying its name.

Kelsie ordered “Noibat, go to Professor Sycamore’s lab. Get him to understand that the hotel is surrounded by Team Flare Members.” Noibat nodded its head like it understood Kelsie crystal clear and flew out of the window.

“Well you can sit around and wait to be rescued if you want,” Shae said, “But Aquillis and I are going to find Viola and stop these grunts!” Kelsie said “Shae, you can’t!” He yelled quietly. “And why not?” Kelsie answered “Shae, something happened last night while you were sleep. I was going to keep quiet about, but you have to know.” “KELSIE!” She yelled. He thought about what he just said and slapped his face. “No, not that! Last night, Professor Sycamore and I saw the boss of Team Flare and he’s crazier than ever. I promised the Professor I’d stay out of Team Flare’s way and leave it to the authorities.” She said “Kelsie, by the time the authorities get here, they may have found us. We have to fight back! We can’t let them get the Mega Rings.”

With that, she walked out the door. However, she was immediately detected. “There’s one of the kids now! Get her!” She ordered “Aquillis, scald!” Aquillis made its head bubble and steam with boiling water and shot it out of her mouth. The grunts were all knocked out and Aquillis and Shae began running down the hotel halls. Kelsie rolled his eyes. “I hate to go against my word, but I can’t let anything bad happen to Aquillis or Shae. Come on Tysbone, let’s follow them.” Tysbone said its name adamantly and ran off.

Noibat reached Professor Sycamore’s Lab, who was in his garden conducting research. Professor Sycamore spotted Noibat and immediately recognized it. “Hello Noibat,” He welcomed. “You belong to Kelsie, don’t you?” Noibat showed a sense of urgency by crazily flying around in all directions. “Calm down” Professor Sycamore said. “What’s got you so worried?” Noibat flew over to the window. The professor followed. Outside, he saw Team Flare members coming out of a hotel and starting to spread around the city. “This is bad,” Sycamore said. “That hotel wouldn’t happen to be the one Kelsie, Shae and Viola are staying in, would it?” Noibat rapidly shook its head yes. “We must get going then!” Professor Sycamore said with his voice escalating. They ran for the door and stormed out.

Meanwhile, Kelsie and Shae were making their way to the top floor where Viola was. When they got there, they saw Viola and her Scyther fighting Team Flare grunts. “What’s with all these goons?” Kelsie asked. Viola yelled “Kelsie! Shae! Get out of here! It’s a-“Before she could finish, they were enclosed by Houndoom and Houndour. Tysbone made its flames on its head and tail sprout out and burn intensely as Aquillis got in a battle position. Scyther began to sharpen its claws by slicing them down the edge of each of the blades.

“Alright boys, we can’t let Lysandre down. Get those Mega Rings, now!” “Scyther, Quick Attack!” Quicker than the grunts could respond, every single Houndour and Houndoom was sliced to the ground. However, one grunt ordered his Houndoom “Houndoom, quick! Get up and use Flamethrower!” Shae ordered Aquillis “Panpour, negate it with your Hydro Pump!” Aquillis began to gather a ton of water around her mouth and spouted it out at gushing force. Kelsie threw out his Pokeball and said “Koga, come on out and use bubble!”

Kelsie’s Koga came out and began to dig its hands into the white foaming bubbles on its neck. Flinging his hands out in all directions, the bubbles hit the Houndour and Houndoom head on. Now was their chance to escape. As they made their wave to the hotel’s elevator, a Houndoom shot a flamethrower at the elevator, making it go down in flames!” Viola said “This can’t be good.” she said “Koga, Aquillis, use your water attacks to put out the flames. Kelsie, make Tysbone use extrasensory on the elevator to help us land gently.” Kelsie nodded his head and ordered “You heard her Tysbone. Extrasensory on the elevator, now!” Everyone began to play their role. Sure enough, the elevator hit the ground with everyone unharmed.

When they got out of the elevator, another Team Flare Admin blocked their path getting out of the hotel. “I’m sorry,” She said, “But if you three want to leave the hotel, you’ll have to hand over your mega rings first.” “Count me in as well.” Another one added. Koga got ready to do some more battling. Shae stepped up this time. “I’ll help you too Kelsie.” She threw out a Pokeball and said “Alright Thorn, it’s time to come on out!” The Flare admin said “Electrike, come on out!” An Electrike came out. It looked like a green wolfish kind of Pokemon with yellow lightning bolts going down the sides of its body. It also had a somewhat helmet shaped head.

“Purrloin, come on out!” A Siamese cat looking Pokemon came out. It had purple skin and tan spots over its body with pink ears. Its tail was a pure purple and it sat on its hind legs. One admin ordered “Electrike, thundershock on that Froakie!” “Dodge!” Kelsie ordered. Koga leaped so high in the air, it was able to grab onto the hotel’s grand chandelier in the main entrance. Shae supported him by saying “Thorn, use Rollout!” Thorn curled up in a ball and began to roll furiously at Purrloin, but the Admin said “Fake out!” The Purrloin slammed both of its paws together, making Thorn come out of its ball and flinch. Kelsie said “Help Thorn out with a lick attack!” Koga shot out its tongue at a rapid speed, leaving Purrloin paralyzed.

Shae ordered “Alright, now Rollout again, Thorn!”  The other admin added “Electrike, use Spark!” Electrike began to cover its body in electricity and charge at Thorn. “Bubble, Koga!” However, this time, Koga began to form a sphere of clear blue water between his hands. He threw it at Electrike with one hand, leaving it knocked out. Kelsie said “What was that move?” Viola answered “It looked like Koga just learned Water Pulse.” “Awesome!” Kelsie exclaimed.

Thorn was able to pull off a successful hit and bash on Purrloin, knocking it out as well. Tysbone got his flames blazing from his head and tail as Aquillis got ready to blast them as well. “Aquillis, Scald!” “Tysbone, Flamethrower!” Aquillis and Tysbone’s combined attack began to fuse and knocked both of the executives back, flying straight out the door. By that time, Police Officers were now surrounding the entire hotel, along with Professor Sycamore and Noibat.

The Professor and Noibat both approached Kelsie. Kelsie pulled out Noibat’s Pokeball and said “Good job buddy, now take five.” Kelsie returned Noibat in a flash of red light. Professor Sycamore said “Kelsie….you went against your word.” He said ashamed “I’m sorry Professor. It’s just that-““No Kelsie,” Professor Sycamore said, “I’m sorry. I underestimated all of you. I just assumed that mere kids couldn’t take on a dangerous organization like Team Flare…but you’ve shown me that age is nothing but a number.” Viola added “And I barely did anything. These two are the real heroes.” Sycamore said “Well Kelsie, Shae, if either of you see Team Flare through your journey, I trust you will know how to deal with them appropriately.” Kelsie and Shae nodded.

Viola asked Kelsie “So Kels, now that all of this is over, are you ready for our battle.” “You bet!” Kelsie exclaimed. Tysbone said its name fired up as well. Now that Team Flare’s plot to steal the Mega Rings have been foiled, Kelsie and Viola are finally about to have their gym battle at last. How will Kelsie do in his first ever Kalos Gym Battle? What kind of tactics will Viola use? Will Kelsie triumph or be crushed by the might of the first Kalos Gym?

Upon reaching Professor Sycamore’s Lab, Kelsie and Shae finally met the other trainers chosen for this incredible task, with the exception of one. Professor Sycamore upgraded their Pokedex, gave each of them a Mega Ring and even one of the starters in his lab. Before they departed, Kelsie discovered that Viola was actually a gym leader and quickly challenged her to a battle. Ace however challenged her at the same time, so they decided to settle who got the first battle through their pre-arranged battle. However, Kelsie hasn’t even had a chance to train the Pokemon that he has received in the Kalos region. Can Kelsie actually win against a powerful trainer like Ace with his only experienced Pokemon being Tysbone?

Professor Sycamore welcomed the idea of a Pokemon battle, so he let them battle in his private garden in his backyard. News reporters and cameramen were all over, taking photos of Kelsie and Ace, but mainly focusing on Ace. Viola and Shae were sitting on the side of the field. “Wow, who knew when Kelsie and Ace fought, it was this big of a deal.” Viola said “I guess Kelsie knows how to pick popular rivals. I just hope he doesn’t forget the fact his Pokemon need serious training before a serious battle.”

Ace pulled out his first Pokeball. He said “You still up for a 3 on 3?” Kelsie replied “You bet!” Kelsie pulled out his Pokeball and replied “You bet! We’re going to start things off strong! Koga, I choose you!” “Koga?” Ace asked. Kelsie’s Froakie came out. Ace said “So you nicknamed your Froakie Koga? I like it! I’ll make one up too! Go, Venus!” Ace’s Bulbasaur came out of the Pokeball. Professor Sycamore said “I’ll referee the match.” He cleared his throat. “Allow me to do this correctly. The battle between Koga and Venus will now begin!”

Kelsie said “Okay Froakie, let’s start off with a pound attack!” Leaping off its hind legs, Froakie leaped high in the sky, getting it’s leg ready to pound down on Bulbasaur. Ace said “Come on Kelsie, you’re going to attack a grass type close ranged? Type advantage may not lead to an automatic win, but it does put you at a huge disadvantage. Venus, Vine Whip!” Venus made vines come from its side and wrap around Koga’s leg. Venus began to thrash it around the arena as it took serious Damage. Viola said “If Kelsie keeps acting this reckless, this is going to be a quick battle.” Kelsie said “Quick Koga, use bubble on Bulbasaur’s eyes!” Koga grabbed the white foaming bubbles from its neck and shot them on Venus’ eyes. He followed up by saying “Now get away by leaping high in the sky.”

Ace said “We’re not going to fall for a nooby move like that. Venus, Poison Powder!” Kelsie responed by saying “Not if we can help it! Koga, bubble on the hole on Venus’ back!” Koga shot more of the white bubbles from around its neck to plug up the hold on the bulb on Venus’ back. Kelsie followed by saying “Good! Now use lick attack!” Koga shot a long, red tounge from its mouth and uppercut Bulbasaur with it.” Shae complimented “Wow! Kelsie just turned this whole battle around so quickly!”

“Venus, get back up!” Venus tried to set to its feet, but it’s muscles froze in place. Ace said “Don’t tell me you’re paralyzed.” Viola complimented “That was a smart play. Lick does have a chance to paralyze the opponent upon contact.” Kelsie said “Looks like we’re in the clear. Koga, Quick Attack now!” Dashing out of the sky, Koga rushed down to attack Venus with all of its might as a trail of white light followed it. Ace said “Now Venus! Vine Whip!” Venus found the strength to move again and lashed Koga with all of its might with a vine whip attack. Shae exclaimed “Wow! And not a second to spare!” However, Koga was still able to pull off its quick attack, which still managed to knock out Venus.Koga was knocked out on impact too, however.

“Koga is unable to battle. This round is a draw!" The cameras began taking pictures of Ace and Kelsie. Shae asked “Was there any logic behind that?” “None that I know of,” Viola answered. “Luck does play a key part in battles too. Even if you play your cards exactly right, the element of luck will always float in the air. Ace used that to his advantage.”

Kelsie returned Koga and Ace returned Bulbasaur. “Good job Koga. Awesome first battle.” Kelsie pulled out his great ball. “I recognize that ball,” Viola said. “He’s going to give Noibat a shot.” Ace said “Come on, Kels. Last I remembered, I was backed into a corner back at the Jhoto League. Show me that Kelsie, not this weak one.” Kelsie said “Alright then, try this out for size!” Noibat came out of the great ball. Ace looked amazed “WHAT?! You got a dragon Pokemon?!” “Noibat’s a dragon type?” Kelsie questioned. Ace said “I’m so jealous of you! I wanted one of those things soooooooo bad! Where did you find one?!” Kelsie answered “I actually didn’t find it. He just kinda….found me.” Noibat said its name happily in s squeaking sound.

Ace pulled out his Pokedex and scanned Noibat. “Let’s see what this thing’s made of.” The Pokedex read “Noibat, the Sound Wave Pokemon. They live in pitch black caves. Their enormous ears can emit ultrasonic waves of 200,000 hertz.”

Ace said “Well that’s cool I guess. I’m impressed. But can it handle this? Come on out Fletchling!” The Pokeball he threw in the air opened up, emitting a white light. It was a bird Pokemon that looked kind of like a robin. It had a white head and a white body with big, black bold eyes and a long black beak. It had a black feathered tail on its back with white designs on it.

Kelsie pulled out his Pokedex and scanned it. He said “Fletchling, huh?” The Pokedex read “Fletchling, the Tiny Robin Pokemon. Its singing voice is beautiful, however it gets rough when others enter its territory.” Shae exclaimed “Awwww, it’s so cute!”

Kelsie said “Wow Ace. That’s seem like a Pokemon that kinda….you know…out of your character.” Ace replied “Hey, you can’t judge a book by its cover. I learned that from you, of course. My Fletchling is the cutest of them all and also the most Powerful!” Kelsie said “Well actions speak louder than words. Noibat, use Wing Attack!” Noibat made its wings glow in white energy as it charged in at Fletchling. Ace responded by saying “Peck!” Faster than even Noibat could use, Fletchling made its long black beak glow in a white energy as it swirled like a drill and pecked Noibat in the gut, knocking it back.

Kelsie asked “How is that thing so fast?!” Ace chuckled. “Now, follow up with a Quick Attack!” Fletchling sprawled out its wings and and charged in at Noibat as a trail of white light followed behind it. “Dodge!” Kelsie ordered. Noibat quickly flew in the sky. Viola observed “This seemed to be a battle of speed and power. Whoever is the fastest is most likely going to win this match.” Shae said “Well Noibat seems pretty fast, so it should have a pretty good chance, right?” Viola admitted “Noibat is among one of the fastest known dragons, but Fletchling has a nice advantage that can make it a threat to even a fast Pokemon like Noibat.” Shae asked “What would that be?” “Gale Wings.” She replied.

Kelsie followed up by saying “Okay Noibat, let’s slow them down with a Supersonic attack!” “Peck again, Fletchling!” Before Noibat could do anything, Noibat was pieced in its gut once again by Fletchling’s glowing white beak, sending it spiraling towards the ground. Kelsie groaned in frustration. “How is that small little bird so fast?” Ace explained “Alright, trainers’ tip time. Fletchling gets a unique ability called Gale Wings.” “I knew it,” Viola said to herself. Shae asked Viola “What does Gale Wings do?” Ace answered “Gale Wings ensures that any flying move always goes first.” “Always?” “Always.”

Ace said “Now let’s wrap this up, Peck attack, Fletchling!” “Noibat, return!” Kelsie quickly drew his Great Ball, returning Noibat in a flash of red light.” “That was a good call,” Viola complimented. “I don’t see how Noibat could out speed a priority attack like peck, especially if Ace is just going to use it over and over.”

Kelsie looked at Tysbone. “Alright buddy, ready to do this?” Tysbone fired up the flames on its head and backside as it ran on the field. Ace said “We aren’t afraid of Tysbone, are we Fletching? Peck, now!” Faster than a speeding bullet, Fletchling charged in at Tysbone, slicing it right on its side. Kelsie ordered “Hang strong Tysbone and use Flame Wheel!” Tysbone did a backflip in the air and cloaked itself in fire as it began to roll at Fletchling. Ace said “We can fight fire with fire, too! Fletchling, use Flame Charge?” “Flame Charge?” Kelsie questioned. Fletchling cloaked itself in fire as well and flew in straight at Tysbone, colliding with it head on. However, Tysbone was more powerful and knocked Fletchling to the ground. Kelsie said “Now’s our chance! Flamethrower on Fletchling!” Tysbone began to build up fire in its mouth and shot it directly at Fletchling as it laid helplessly on the ground. The burns knocked Fletchling unconscious, unable to press on.

“Fletchling is unable to battle,” Professor Sycamore announced, “Quilava is the winner!” Shae complimented “Wow! Tysbone really is pretty powerful!” Viola looked at Ace’s Feraligatr. “Yeah, but I can probably guess who Ace is going to choose next.”

Ace said “Alight Big Shot, let’s show them why your name is Big Shot!” Ace’s Feraligatr jumped on the field, flexing and making a bunch of different poses as the cameras began to flash. Kelsie said “Alright Tysbone, ready for round 2?” Shae questioned “He’s really going to stay in with Tysbone?! Why?” Viola answered “I have a feeling he has a plan if he’s going to battle with such a huge disadvantage.” Ace said “We may have lost to Tysbone in the Jhoto League Kelsie, but don’t think you’re going to luck out twice!” Kelsie said “That wasn’t luck that was all skill.”

Professor Sycamore announced “And let the battle between Tysbone and Big Shot begin!” Ace said “Alright Big Shot, just like a movie scene. Dragon Dance, now!” Big Shot began to dance majestically as red and black energy began to swirl around its body, emitting blue sparks. “We aren’t going to let that happen,” Kelsie said. “Tysbone, Extrasensory!” Tysbone’s eyes began to glow in a blue, psychic power that froze Big Shot right in its tracks. He began to levitate in the sky. Kelsie ordered “Now, slam him into the ceiling!” Tysbone slammed Big Shot straight into the ceiling, not allowing him to set up at all. Ace looked annoyed. “No! Not again! Big Shot, Aqua Jet!” “Flame Wheel!” The two began to collide several times as blue drops of water and blazing orange flames flew across the field. Big Shot landed on the ground as the water dispersed from its body. Tysbone did the same.

“I have to admit Kels,” Ace said, “Of all the fire Pokemon Big Shot and I have fought, your Quilava has always been number one.” “Thanks,” Kelsie said proudly. Ace followed by saying “But I want my first gym badge, so this ends here. Big Shot, Hydro Cannon!” Kelsie and Tysbone looked shocked. “When did Ace find the time to teach Big Shot that move?!” Kelsie thought. “Tysbone, Hidden Power, full force!” The white balls of light shot vigorously at Big Shot, but he was still able to unleash his massively charged water move, which blasted Tysbone straight into the brick wall of Sycamore’s garden. “Tysbone!” Kelsie cried. Shae’s mouth dropped open by Big Shot’s raw power. Tysbone was knocked out on impact. “Tysbone is unable to battle,” Professor Sycamore said. “Big Shot is the winner!” The cameras began to take pictures of Big Shot and both he and Ace posed for the camera.

Shae said “Maybe switching out was good at the time, but now Kelsie’s Noibat has to go against a powerful opponent like Feraligatr….” Aquillis said its name worried. Viola said “If Kelsie can crawl out of this hole, I will be honestly impressed.”

“Go on,” Ace mocked. “Send out Noibat. We all know it’s no match for my well trained Big Shot.” Kelsie pulled out his Great Ball. “Perhaps,” Kelsie agreed, “But that’s not going to stop me from trying. Noibat, let’s give it our all!” Noibat came out in an explosion of white light again ready to fight Big Shot.

“The Battle between Big Shot and Noibat will now begin!”

Kelsie said “I know Big Shot can’t act after using a powerful move like Hydro Cannon, so we’ll take the lead. Noibat, screech!” Noibat opened up its ears, emitting an irritating sound that even impacted the people watching the fight. Covering her ears, Shae yelled so Viola could hear “What’s this supposed to do?” Viola yelled back “The aggravating sound lowers the targets defense drastically. While Big Shot is distracted by the sound, Noibat is welcome to get in a free attack.”

Kelsie followed up by saying “Good! Now use Supersonic!” Noibat emitted a pulsing wave from its mouth, which hit Big Shot head on. Ace yelled “Big Shot, shut that thing up with an Aqua Jet, pronto!” Big Shot cloaked itself in water and shot at Noibat at blazing speed. However, Kelsie said “Fly high in the sky to dodge it!” Noibat did just that, making Big Shot crash into a tree in Porfessor Sycamore’s garden. “Now follow up with a Wing Attack!” Cloaking its wings in harsh winds and white light, Noibat sliced Big Shot with its wings as hard as it could. Shae said impressed “Wow! He’s lowering his defenses so that Big Shot will eventually take itself out!”

Kelsie said “Alright, now Screech, once more!” Noibat unleashed another loud eruption of noise from its ears, lowering Big Shot’s defenses even more. Ace said “Dragon Dance, now!” Big Shot began to preform a mystic dance as it cloaked itself in red and black energy once more. “Now Aqua Jet!” However, Big Shot was still terribly confused. He cloaked himself in water and began to shoot at Noibat, wobbling in a zigzag line as it approached him. However, out if Big Shot’s own confusion, he crashed straight into the ground right before it hit Noibat. “No way!” Ace said. “Now’s our chance!” Kelsie exclaimed. “Noibat, Wing Attack!” Noibat hit Big Shot with a wing attack one more time, which was a direct hit. “Wow, a direct hit!” Sure enough, Big Shot was knocked out.

“Big Shot is unable to battle,” Professor Scyamore said “Noibat is the winner! The vicroty goes to Kelsie!” Shae and Aquillis jumped up and cheered “You won, Kelsie! Good job!” Viola was thinking in her head. “Amazing. Kelsie literally caught this Noibat today, yet he was able to use strategy to defeat a high leveled and very experienced Pokemon like Feraligatr. I think I’m going to enjoy my battle with this kid.”

Noibat said its name in a squeaky bat sound as it did backflips in the air. “You did it Noibat! Excellent job!” Big Shot got up and walked over to Ace with its head down. “It’s alright bud,” Ace reassured. “You’re still a rocking Pokemon. And next time, Noibat’s going down. Count on it!”

Ace said “Well Kelsie, you beat me again. Congrats. You get the first battle against Viola.” Viola approached Kelsie. “That was an amazing battle, Kelsie. Perhaps I didn’t give you enough credit as a trainer.” “It’s all good,” Kelsie replied. “But I can’t wait to fight against you.” Professor Sycamore looked at the setting sun. “Well it is getting pretty late,” Sycamore said, “And Kelsie, your Pokemon must be exhausted. Why don’t you two call it a day and come back here fresh in the morning for a battle?” Viola stretched out and yawned. “That actually sounds like a good plan,” She admitted. “Hey, I want a battle too!” Eugene said. “I request a battle as well,” William added. Viola said “Alright, alright. As a gym leader, I have to accept all of your challenges. We’ll start off fresh with Kelsie tomorrow morning, okay? Just meet back here.”

And so, having Noibat’s first victory and gaining a ton of experience in its first battle with Kelsie, Kelsie and his team are fired up for the gym battle with Viola tomorrow. But what kind of Pokemon will she use? What strategies does this gym leader have up her sleeve? Only time can tell in the heated battle in hopes of Kelsie earning his first Kalos Region Gym Badge.
